We honor those who sacrificed their time and some, their lives for our freedom. It is a privilege to live in a state of freedom. Take the time to remember and thanks those who served.

A new gas insert is a capitol improvement when the following conditions exist. The Insert purchased is installed by a contractor who removes the existing damper and attaches a new vent system from the unit to a cap at the top of the chimney. This new chimney system stays as a permanent installation with the home. The homeowner will not pay sales tax on the labor or delivery. The full contract will include a markup for sales tax paid only on the purchase price of the materials. You should always purchase from a trusted source like Cricket on the Hearth, Inc., so that approved venting and clearances are maintained specific to the product purchased. Your installation contractor will also be your service technician for years to come as fireplace companies will not touch other's installations. Choose wisely!

There are two terms used for the settings of your pilot light with a gas burning stove, fireplace or insert. "CPI" is short for constant or standing pilot light while, "IPI" means the pilot flame is intermittent and lights electronically when you turn on the unit. IPI was developed as an energy saving measure so the small flame would not be burning when the unit was not in use. The one thing we encourage our customers to do in cold weather is to turn their units to the CPI setting so that the draft is established and the unit will turn on in a power out without attaching the battery pack. Less moisture will build up in the firebox and the flame will come on more quickly.
